One day left! Online applications for the 2024 Tallgrass Artist Residency will close at the end of Tuesday, October 31. You can review the program specifics and find a link to the online application on our website. Artists of any discipline are encouraged to apply.

Another Fall Gathering in the books. Thanks to all of the artists-in-residence for making the return trip and sharing your work and thoughts, @matfieldgreenworks and local artists for opening your home studios, the @schoolforruralculture for hosting and providing a wonderful meal, @rklassenmusic for the tunes, and @kansascreativearts for supporting the program.

Applications are open through the end of the month for the 2024 program — we’ll see you next year!

Coffee is brewed and @matfieldgreenworks community open studios are open til noon. Come by the @schoolforruralculture for a map and schedule. Artist talks and exhibition start at 2:00.

Today is the day! Looking forward to the group exhibition and hearing from this year’s artists from 2:00-4:30 this afternoon at the @schoolforruralculture. Come early for coffee roasted on site, open studios around town organized by @matfieldgreenworks, and a lunch stand just up the street. Stay after for music, dinner, and … possibly karaoke? All events free, just bring cash for food.

Just a few days away from our annual Fall Gatherin

Just a few days away from our annual Fall Gathering in Matfield Green. It’s been another great summer of wonderful artists with diverse practices—looking forward to hearing about their experiences and seeing some of what they produced.

We hope that you can join us for a full day of activities including Community Open Studios hosted by @matfieldgreenworks in the morning, a lunch stand at 206 Bocook at noon (cash or Venmo), artist symposium and group exhibition in the afternoon at the @schoolforruralculture, games on the lawn with music by @rklassenmusic, dinner hosted by The School ($15 cash suggested donation), and an evening bonfire at @matfieldstation Timber Arches. Posted @withregram • @elizabethpostingstuff thoroughly enjoying myself @tallgrassartistresidency! i just got here after months of pondering, planning, and waiting.

i’m going to be posting updates over the next 2 weeks before / during the culminating exhibition on 10/7 when the other residents who stayed throughout the year will join 🎊

spent my morning at the @schoolforruralculture reading and getting to know their amazing space. i’m also obsessed with my train as neighbor and working on our relationship 🚂🌾🌾plus who is wes jackson?! 🌝 quite a history.
